Beauty and the Beast

Some of my favorite memories from high school were our musical productions. When I found out one of the Christian schools here in town was putting on a production of Beauty and the Beast and one of my friends had two daughters in the play, I really wanted to take the girls to see it.

This was the first time that Justin had been home with the baby boy for over an hour, so it wasn't the easiest of times for them, but I was so glad to get to do something special with just the girls.

The musical was quite good. The players had a good sense of humor when the unexpected happened. The beast lost one of his horns passing through the curtain at one point and he exclaimed how much that hurt. There were some sound issues from time to time, but it was a fun musical for the girls first.

Kate was quite frightened by the beast (Seth S). We've never let the kids watch much in the way of TV or movies, so the gruff beast was among the scariest things she had ever seen. He was quite convincing in his role. Belle (Kelsey) had an excellent voice and stage presence as well. Cogsworth (Paul) and Lumiere (Seth T) along with Gaston (Ryan) and Lefou (Corey) were also crowd favorites, who truly seemed to be comfortable on stage. The costumes and sets were quite good as well.

All dressed up and ready to go--the girls didn't know where we were going until we got there. I was afraid we might not get to go for some reason or that the tickets might be sold out, as we paid at the door.

If you're in the area, it's a fun show and will be running again tonight at 7:30 at Berean Christian. It's a great deal too--$3 for adults, $2 for children, with a $10 maximum per family.
