Friday Funnies & a Little Life

Nate: We have red lights so people can walk or drive without being interrupted.  Yellow lights mean go slow, and green lights me go medium, but I wish we didn't have red lights.

Justin grumbled about another driver.

Gabby: Why don't you honk your horn at them?

Justin: It wouldn't help

Gabby: Well complaining doesn't help either.

As you might be able to tell we've spent more than our normal amount of time driving this week!  Kate is away at camp until about midnight tonight with some of her AHG troop.  In the mean time we signed Gabby up for a four day AHG day camp a little closer to home.  It wasn't as close as I thought when I filled out the paperwork, but she had a great time.

Thankfully we were able to share in another group's carpool.  Gabby rode along with them for the first two days.  I drove with the carpool one day, and the final day, I just drove her to and from the house myself.  I am very thankful for that carpool because it is a bit of a haul over to the camp ground!  Some of the oldest girls stayed on site for three nights as they worked on their badges.

I can't wait to hear about Kate's week too!

I'm often asked if we school in the summer.  The answer is usually not really.  I mean the kids read ALL the time.

Then there was the time Kate broke her arm and couldn't do summer, so we did school between physical therapy sessions and doctor's visits.

And the summer before Ellie came that we did school so I could take the time after she was born.

And now evidently there is that summer that I asked Nate, in jest, after buying him a folder, so are you ready to start school on Monday that he answered, "YES!!!" with such enthusiasm I was shocked.  I looked over at his sisters, who kind of shrugged.  I looked at the blazing hot weather forecast, and shrugged.  So we started school.  In July.

So now, I guess the answer is about half the time...

If you need me I guess we'll be working on lapbooks, drawing a prairie habitat, and writing a letter of introduction!
