XXVII: Written on the Door Posts

I think the kids thought I was joking at first, but we took sharpies to the studs of our new home.

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. -Deuteronomy 11:18-21

We mostly wrote scripture, but the older girls wrote other quotes too.

XXVI: Still Moving

It seems unreal that things keep moving after being stuck, but they do! It looks like a house.

My parents met us all out there a week ago Sunday to see the place.  It was a beautiful day.  A crew was working, so we didn’t go in the house, just pointed at rooms from outside.

Later in the week we got windows and the roofing began!  Here is Saturday.

XXV: Up, up, up

Ellie and I went to get the final survey (required by the bank) with the foundation included last Wednesday.  Since we would only be thirty minutes from the new place, we stopped by to see the progress.

The second story was up.

I even set her up inside—there are no steps anywhere yet.  We stayed where the second floor covered us, as there were roof pieces up high that I assumed were not attached yet, and touched nothing but floor.

Here her room is above her.

XXIV: Finally Something to Post About

The temporary electric pole has been reset and the brand new electrical pole went up just over a week ago.

This weekend we got a large part of the downstairs framing.
